Precious Disciple of Jesus Christ, the Daystar,

Are you aware that God is extremely eager to bless you with health, financial prosperity, and good relationships? Our Scripture verse for this week confirms God’s desire to bless His people.

Why does God delight in our prosperity? Because He is good! For generations, Satan has deceived the Church into believing that God makes people sick, that God brings calamity, that God causes death. These are all lies. God is the Author of good. John 10: 10 tells us that Satan comes to steal, kill, and destroy, but that our Lord has come to give us life, and life more abundantly.

Here is more proof that God wants to bless us: “For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him” (2 Chronicles 16: 9).

Every time I read this Scripture verse, I feel somewhat sad that God has to go looking for people to bless. Perhaps this is due to the fact that few people have taken the time to develop the kind of faith that is able to receive from God.

I think the reason for this is that most people have a wrong perception of the nature of God. They view God as a powerful Being Who is just waiting for the chance to pounce on them for every mistake they make or every sin they commit. But this is not the God we serve. God is good! If you are having trouble grasping this truth, meditate on Psalm 145.

While God is eager to bless us, receiving His blessing requires faith on our part. “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently sekk Him” (Hebrews 11: 6).

To receive God’s blessings, we must do two things: 1) Believe that He exists and 2) Believe that He rewards those who seek Him with all their heart. Both of these requirements involve faith. To believe is to have faith.

Most, if not all, of us reading this devotional believe that God exists. But how many of us really believe that He rewards those who diligently seek Him? If we are honest with ourselves, we probably believe or have believed that GOd rewards arbitrarily and that receiving from Him is a matter of chance. After all, we were taught, He heals whom He wants to heal; He prospers who He wants to prosper, and if He doesn’t choose us–well, there’ nothing we can do about it.

Here’s a startling truth: God doesn’t choose whom to bless; WE choose to be blessed. God is not partial (Romans 2: 11). He wants to bless everyone.

How do we choose to be blessed?  By choosing whether or not to believe what God says. In other words, we choose by our faith or lack thereof.  If we believe what God says, we will receive His blessing. If we don’t, we won’t. It’s that simple.

So, dig into God’s Word. Diligently seek Him. Believe that He says what He means and He means what He says. Then get your barrels ready for the outpouring of HIs blessings in your life.
