Precious Disciple of Jesus Christ, the Daystar,
Evangelist Gloria Copeland once said, “In purity lies the power.” This statement reflects our Scripture verse for this week.
The purer a solution is, the stronger it is. The more diluted a solution is, the weaker it is.
The same is true of our spiritual lives. The purer we are, the stronger we are. The less pure we are, the weaker we are. Indeed, we are strong to the degree that we are pure.
Purity is not simply a sexual matter. It is a matter of heart motives. Are we pure in the motives behind our actions? An action can seem pure although the motive prompting it is not pure.
Likewise, an action can seem questionable although the motive behind it is pure.
The Bible tells us that “the heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked . . . .” (Jeremiah 17: 9). Let’s take time each day to examine our hearts and to cleanse ourselves from all deceit. Then we will experience that power that is expressed only in righteousness.
