“But David strengthened himself in the LORD his God.” (I Samuel 30: 6b)

Precious Disciple of Jesus Christ, the Daystar,

David was facing one of the darkest moments of his life. His hometown of Ziklag had been captured while he was away, and his family had been kidnapped.

In fact, all the families of David’s men had been kidnapped, and the town had been burned. David’s men were so upset with him that they wanted to stone him to death.

David was on the verge of despair. But look what he did? He “strengthened himself in the LORD his God.” When David was at the end of his rope, he turned to the One who tightly held the rope.

Are you at the darkest moment of your life? Do you feel as though you can’t hold on to your rope any longer? Are you being crushed with despair?

If so, do what David did. Turn to the Lord your God for strength. Let him hold you up in His powerful hands. Let Him breathe hope and life into your being. Let Him carry you through the fire.

He will not fail you. All you have to do is ask.
