“And throwing aside his garment, he rose and came to Jesus.” (Mark 10: 50)
Precious Disciple of Jesus Christ, the Daystar,
Blind Bartimaeus was determined to get his healing. When Jesus called him, he immediately got up and threw aside his garment.
I find this little note about Bartimaeus quite significant. Nothing in God’s Word is there by chance. So why did the Holy Spirit include this information about Bartimaeus?
I believe that our Lord wanted us to see that in order to receive the blessings He has for us, we sometimes have to get rid of things we’ve worn for a while–things like old patterns of thinking empty traditions, and false beliefs.
What are you holding on to that’s keeping you from receiving your blessing? Is it a hand-me-down belief that has no basis in the Word of God? Is it a church tradition that you’ve never questioned? Is it a pattern of thinking that’s keeping you from entering into your Promised Land?
Whatever it is, throw it aside. Like Bartimaeus, get up and go get what Jesus came to earth to give you.
