“For He does not afflict willingly, nor grieve the children of men.” (Lamentations 3: 33)
When my children were small, there were times I had to correct them, although I did not want to nor did I like it. But I did so because I love my children. I knew that discipline would build Godly character in them.
Just as a loving parent disciplines his child so that the child will develop good character, so does our Heavenly Father discipline us so that we will develop the character of Christ.
No discipline is pleasant, and, if you’re like me, you don’t like it one bit. But when you understand the Father’s motive in disciplining His children, then you will be grateful for His discipline.
If you are being disciplind by our Heavenly Father, take it as a sign of His great love fory ou. And remember that the discipline is simply removing the dross so that you will look more and more like Jesus!
