The Daystar Devotional 2001-12-31

The children of Joseph, Manasseh, and Ephraim too their inheritance.” (Joshua 16: 4 KJV)

Precious Disciple of Jesus Christ, the Daystar,

No promise of God is ours unless we take it. God has done all He is going to do in terms of providing us with everything we need. God’s work was done at Calvary through His Son, Jesus Christ, and as the Word says of Christ’s work, “It is finished” (John 19: 30). The only word left to do, then is our work.

Our work is the work of faith. It is the act of receiving all that God has finished in His work. Although Jesus Christ completed the work of salvation (restoration of the whole man–spirit soul, and body), it is up to us to appropriate that work to our own lives.

How do we do this? We do this by taking personally what Jesus Christ did on the Cross. In other words, we read every promise of God and substitute our own name in that promise. Then we act as though that promise is, indeed, true in our lives.

For instance, the Word of God says that we were healed by the stripes of Jesus (1 Peter 2: 24). If you are facing sickness, take that verse personally and substitute yourself in it. Say, “I was healed by the stripes of Jesus.” The Word of God says that God supplies all of our need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus (Philippians 4: 19). If you are facing debt that seems impossible to pay off, take that Scripture verse personally and substitute yourself in it. Say, “My Go supplies all of my need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”

There is a promise in the Word of God for whatever situation we will ever face in life. It is our job to find that promise and to stand on it. To stand on the promise means to believe the promise, to speak the promise and only the promise continually, and to act as tough the promise is true. Faith just be accompanied by action or else it is not faith (James 2: 26).

As we begin a new year, let us resolve to take possession of Go’s promises. Let’s show our Lord Jesus that we appreciate what He did for us on Calvary and that as far as we are concerned, He did not die in vain.
