“…one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead… (Philippians 3:13)
A well-known evangelist recently asked a powerful question: “Are you in re-play or in pre-play? In other words, are you living in the past or are you looking toward the future?
One of the greatest hindrances to growth in Christ is living in the past. It’s like constantly looking in the rearview mirror of your car. Not only will it slow you down, but eventually it will cause you to crash, perhaps forever keeping you from fulfilling the call that God has placed on your life.
Satan tempts us to focus on the past by attacking us with regret, remorse, self-pity, self-condemnation, unforgiveness, and bitterness. Resolve today that you will no longer be ignorant of his devices (2 Corinthians 2:11) but that you will, instead, resist his attacks whenever they come (James 4:7).
