Precious Disciple of Jesus Christ, the Daystar,
Normally, when we read our Scripture verse for this week, we apply it only to redemption from sin. But the word “salvation” means much more than that. It includes redemption of the whole person–spirit, soul (emotions, mind, and will), and body.
Our verse explains, in a nutshell, the way to receive anything we need from God. This way is summed up in the two concepts of believing and confessing (or speaking).
In order to receive eternal life, we must believe in Jesus Christ and confess, or say, that He is our Savior and Lord. We receive every other blessing from God in the same way.
For instance, in order to receive healing and health, we must believe that Jesus wants us well, and then we must speak that we are healed by His stripes (1 Peter 2: 24).
In order to receive God’s promise of financial prosperity, we must believe that God wants us to prosper and then speak that He supplies all of our needs (Philippians 4: 19).
As we believe and speak the Word, the Holy Spirit will show us what we need to do, for instance, to take better care of our bodies and to manage our money properly. In short, He will lead us into all truth.
Let’s not insult our Lord by receiving only part of His gift of salvation. He paid the greatest of all prices for it. Believe and confess that you are what God says you are and that you have what God says you have. In so doing, you will express gratitude to Jesus and greatly please the Father.
