” . . . do not become sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises” (Hebrews 6: 12).

Precious Disciple of Jesus Christ, the Daystar,
What I write to you each week, I have first had to learn and apply to my own life. I write not as one who has arrived, but as one who is beside you in the trenches, pressing on toward the mark of my high calling in Christ.
This week’s Scripture verse contains the very intereting word “sluggish.” This word comes from the word “slug” which is a small creature that is related to the land snail but looks somewhat like a worm. The slug promises through their faith and patience.
It is by faith that we receive the promises of God. But sometimes the promise seems long in coming. When this happens, it is time to let patience kick in. Why? Because the period of time between your original prayer for the fulfillment of a promise and the time when the promise is actually fulfilled in your life is the time of testing. If you are not patient during this time of testing, you will fail the test. What happens when you fail the test? You fail to inherit the promise.
If you’ve failed some tests in the past, don’t be discouraged. God will let you take a re-test. But this time, make sure that you approach the test with faith in one hand and patience in the other. When you do, you’ll ace every test you take.
