Precious Disciple of Jesus Christ, the Daystar,
The Christian life is not an easy life, but it is a victorious one. Many Christians, however, are not experiencing that victory in their lives. A chief reason for failure to experience victory lies in double-mindedness.
What is double-mindedness? It is going back and forth between two positions. For instance, one day we say “God supplies all of my needs,” and the next day we say, “I don’t know how I’m going to pay the mortgage this month.”
The Word tells us that a double-minded man will not receive anything from the Lord (James 1: 6-7). Why not? Because a double-minded man, in wavering between two positions, cancels out both of them. If you studied algebra, you’ll remember that +1 and -1 = 0.
If you want to experience victory in your life, do not be double-minded in what you say. As our Scripture verse fo this week commands, hold fast your confession without wavering. Receiving from God depends on your standing firm on His promises. He always keeps His end of the covenant. It’s up to us to keep ours.
