“The fear of man brings a snare . . . .” (Proverbs 29: 25)
Precious Disciple of Jesus Christ, the Daystar,
The Bible tells us that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom (Psalm 111: 10). To fear God is to reverence Him, to respect Him, to base our life decisions on what He says.
If the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, then the fear of man is the beginning of foolishness. To fear man is to hold him in higher reverence, higher respect, and higher awe than we hold God. It is to allow man’s influence in our lives to be greater than God’s influence.
Examine your heart today. Have you been compromising the Word of God because of your fear of what others may say about you or do to you? Remember what God said to the prophet Jeremiah: “Do not be afraid of their faces” (Jeremiah 1: 8).
