” Therefore be always alert and on your guard.” (Acts 20: 31 AMP)
Precious Disciple of Jesus Christ, the Daystar,
Studies show that most car accidents occur when the driver is momentarily distracted. Usually, the distraction lasts only a few seconds, but that’s all it takes to wreak havoc in a person’s life.
The same is true in the spiritual realm. All it takes is a momentary distraction from God’s Truth for the devil to jump in and wreak havoc in our lives.
Perhaps the distraction occurs through a co-worker who challenges us on the job. Caught off guard, we respond in anger instead of love.
Or the distraction could occur in the form of a sexual temptation. Instead of dismissing the though, we entertain it until it develops into a stronghold.
Whatever the case, the message is clear: Satan is always looking for that moment when we let our guard down. Then he can come in for the fill.
So, how can we stay alert to his wiles? By staying continually connected to Jesus. How do we do that? Keep a running conversation going with the Lord all day long. Include Him in everything you do. Ask HIs advice. Talk to Him as you would to your best friend because He is your Best Friend.
Mediate on His Word throughout the day. As soon as your mind begins to stray to things that are not of God, pull your mind back to thoughts that are pure, lovely, honest, and good (Philippians 4: 8).
Remember: We are at war! A good soldier stays alert to the traps of the enemy. As soldiers of Jesus Christ, we must do no less.
