Precious Disciple of Jesus Christ, the Daystar,
A vicious spirit of envy has infiltrated the Body of Christ. Some believers seem more concerned about “their ministries” than about Jesus Christ.
Envy is a tool of the enemy to divide the Body of Christ by splitting its allegiance. When our allegiance is first and foremost to ourselves and to our ministry rather than to Christ, division sets in.
Ask yourself this week if you are guilty of envy. Here are some symptoms of this hideous sin:
1) Fear of being surpassed by another in ministry or in other areas of life;
2) Reluctance to promote another’s ministry;
3) Secret pleasure at the misfortune or failure of another;
4) A critical attitude toward another’s idea;
5) Wishing you were someone else.
If you are guilty of envy, repent and change course. Begin thanking God for who you are and for the talents He has given you. Then focus your gaze on Jesus and don’t compare yourself to anyone else. To do so is to foster envy and to miss the mark in fulfilling your own unique calling.
Your sister in Christ,
Dr. MaryAnn Diorio
