Precious Disciple of Jesus Christ, the Daystar,

We are living in perilous times, times in which opportunities for fear abound. Modern technology permits us to view war almost as though we were right there. Death and destruction bombard us on every side. Yet, our Lord commands us not to be afraid.

Fear is a spirit whose purpose is to rob us of our peace and to render us powerless and ineffective for God. Fear can take hold when we do not understand the Father’s lvoe for us and our position of authority in Christ.

The truth is that God is always with us and that nothing can separate us from His love. The truth is that as disciples of Jesus Christ, we have power and authority over Satan. We must, however, exercise that power and authority by resisting fear with the Word of God.

God’s Word tells us that He “has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, of love, and of a sound mind” (2 Timothy 1: 7). That Word is our sword against the spirit of fear, a sword we must use aggressively. As we do, we will drive out the spirit of fear. So shall we be obedient to our Lord’s command not to fear.

Your sister in Christ,

Dr.  MaryAnn Diorio
