Precious Disciple of Jesus Christ, the Daystar,
Discerning the Body of Christ is critical to our well-being. Indeed, many who have not properly discerned the Body of Christ have fallen into sickness and have even died (1 Corinthians 11:27-30).
What does it mean to discern the Body of Christ? Among other things, it means to recognize that Christ’s Body was the sacrificial Lamb that was slain to ratify the New Covenant and to pay the price for our sin. It means to recognize that all believers are members of Christ’s Body and that to hurt or criticize a fellow believer is to sin against Christ. It means that to fail to reverence the taking of Communion is to dishonor Christ Who instituted it.
Let us examine ourselves–not only before we take Communion, but every night before we go to sleep. If we judge ourselves, we will not be judged (1 Corinthians 11: 31).
Your sister in Christ,
Dr. Mary Ann Diorio
