“These are the ones who follow the Lamb wherever He goes.” (Revelation 4:14)
Precious Disciple of Jesus Christ, the Daystar,
Following the Lamb is the essence of the Christian walk. It is based on hearing His voice and then obeying it. If you’re like me, you have sometimes struggled with discerning the direction in which the Lamb is taking you. You have wondered if you were really hearing the voice of the Lamb or some other voice.
If this describes you, here are three things I have learned to help me follow the Lamb:
1) Make sure that whatever directions you hear line up with Scripture. If what you are hearing does not line up with Scripture, then do not follow it.
2) Listen to the inner witness of your own spirit. If there is turmoil in your heart about a particular direction you are about to take, do not go in that direction. God’s direction will always be accompanied by peace in your spirit (Colossians 3:15).
3) Seek the counsel of mature believers. In the multitude of counselors there is safety (Proverbs 11:14). We are part of the Body of Christ and, as such, we are all part of one another. The counsel of those in authority over us is especially important.
As you apply these three steps, God will order the circumstances of your life and lead you in the direction He has planned for you.
Your sister in Christ,
