Precious Disciple of Jesus Christ, the Daystar,

According to our Scripture verse for this week, Satan is a liar. Not only is he a liar, but there is no truth whatsoever in him (John 8: 44).

Now consider this. Since Satan is a liar, and since there is no truth whatsoever in him, he cannot speak the truth. He can only lie. So when Satan speaks to you, you can be absolutely certain that he is lying to you.

Let’s look at this on a practical level. Suppose Satan tells you that you are going to go under financially. Well, that is a lie because God says that He will supply all your need (Philippians 4: 19( and that the wealth of the sinner is stored up for you (Proverbs 13: 22). God also says that He teaches you how to profit (Isaiah 48: 17) and that He gives you the power to create wealth (Deuteronomy 8: 18).

Or suppose Satan tells you that you are not going to be healed form sickness but that you are going to die. That, too, is a lie because God says that He will restore health to you (Jeremiah 30: 17) and that you will live and not die and declare the works of the Lord (Psalm 118: 17). God also says that Jesus bore all your sickness (Matthew 8: 17).  If Jesus bore all your sicknesses, you don’t have to bear them.

Satan tells you one thing. God tells you another. It is critical for you to be able to distinguish between the two. In order to know who is speaking to you, you must know Go’s Word. If you don’t know God’s Word, you will be deceived. When you know God’s Word, you will immediately recognize the source of the voice speaking to you. If the voice agrees with God’s Word, it is God’s voice. If the voice does not agree with God’s Word, it is Satan’s voice.

Satan speaks the lie. God speaks the truth. The Bible says that where two or more agree on anything, it is done (Matthew 18: 19). If you agree with Satan, you will be agreeing with evil, and evil will be done in your life. If you agree with God, you will be agreeing with truth, and truth will be done in your life.

Whatever you agree with will be done in your life. Do you want what Go says to be done in your life, or do you want what Satan says to be done in your life? The answer is obvious.

Picture yourself as facing God on your right hand and Satan on your left. You are in the middle. You can choose to believe God or you can choose to believe Satan. Whatever you choose will be done in your life. YOU cast the deciding vote. Cast it for God’s Word and for life, so that you and your descendants will live (Deuteronomy 30: 19).

Your sister in Christ,

Dr. MaryAnn Diorio
