Precious Disciple of Jesus Christ, the Daystar,

The end of one year and the beginning of another often prompts us to reflect on our lives in a deeper way than usual. For some, such reflection arouses joy at goals reached, dreams fulfilled, and contributions made. For others, a year-end reflection causes remorse at broken relationships, unfulfilled dreams, and missed opportunities.

During the course of our lives, all of us will probably experience both of the above scenarios. If, however, you find yourself in the second group as the year 2000 comes to a close, our Scripture verse for this week will have special meaning for you.

The locust in Joel 2: 25 represents Satan. It is he who steals, kills, and destroys (John 10: 10). It is he who tries to keep us from enjoying the abundant life that Jesus has earned for us. Sometimes it seems as though Satan succeeds. But, Beloved, it is our Lord and Savor Jesus Christ Who always has the last word!

For those in Him, nothing is wasted–not sorrow, nor disappointment, nor pain. Jesus takes all that Satan has eaten–our relationships, our innocence, our finances, our health, our hurts, and our shattered dreams–and He restores them. This is His promise to us in Joel 2: 25.

So rejoice! Rejoice in our Lord’s redemptive love for you. He is the Redeemer! He will restore to you all that Satan has stolen from you. Only believe Joel 2: 25, and you will surely see it come to pass in your life.

Your sister in Christ,

Dr. MaryAnn Diorio
